So what’s your favorite bird to mount and why?  Although I love turkeys and ducks, I would have to say that pheasants are my favorite.  They are very beautiful birds and are easy to come by.  They are also pretty easy to mount.  Ducks would be a close second though.  Not all are the same but similar and I just love the variety – even the common Mallard!  Although Turkeys may be my favorite bird to hunt and admire, they are a pain in the butt to mount!

My favorite bird to work on is the turkey.

Turkeys seem to hang people up. I do not think turkeys are any harder then other birds to mount. You just have to get past the fleshing.

I personally cannot mount a pheasant or duck to the standards Austin does, but I can do a pretty good turkey.

It takes great skill and determination to do any form of taxidermy correctly and to produce consistent quality on a daily basis.

Mine is definitely the male ringneck pheasant.  There are so many ways to create a beautiful diorama with this bird.
