Hi everyone, I have a snow goose a customer wanted to mount but it is somewhat freeze dried due to length of time they had it in the freezer especially the head and neck is there any way to re-hydrate with good results. Thanks Cindy

I hear ya D. I’m not much of a bird gal but I do a few every year.
C, I usually don’t take dried birds. But sometimes I haven’t a choice. I’ll take water in a insulin needle, and start injecting all over the head and neck. It will loosen enough in a few minutes. Then skin carefully and slowly! It may take 3 times longer to work the skin off. If it’s still stiff, wrap a thin towel around the head for feather protection. Then use pliers to crush the back of the jaws and skull. This will make it smaller and easier to remove the skin. Once the head is off, the neck shouldn’t be a problem.
