OfflineHi everyone
this my first post here and I could use some advice to help me narrow down a good instructional DVD on a strut mount turkey. I have three in mind One is Danny Owens strutting turkey DVD and then Harry whiteheads DVD and Bill Atkins strutting turkey DVD I have already skinned the bird with a breast incision and was hoping to keep the leg bones attached so that might have a bearing on what DVD is going to work for me. does anyone have or use any of these? I need one that covers all the steps from start to finish with good detail. Thanks
The dvd with Harry should cover everything you need. Also, you should start using the leg to leg incision and remove your legs. This will keep your breast feathers cleaner during the wire wheeling, and doing your legs seperate will allow you to mount the legs 1st. You will them attach them with larger wire, making them stronger.

OfflineThanks for replys is it possible to fix the breast incision and back step to a leg to leg or would that be to much cutting on the bird? I was not aware of the leg to leg incision till after I had already skinned the turkey with the breast incision kind of why I was looking at the other two DVDs because they fallow the steps I took alittle closer. I have talked with Harry and would like to get his video but I went wrong with my first cut . He said I could just skip the leg removal part on his dvd but leaves me on my own for that portion of the mounting process.
Just keep the incision you have with the legs on. Follow everything else on Harrys’ dvd. To attach your legs more securely,
1- use a 6ga wire.
2- instead of running it thru the body and looping it back in the manniquin do this. Cut your wire 2-3” above leg bone.
3- Make a circle with the wire.
4- Cut out a recess in the thigh area of the body for the circle to fit in, with the leg bone flush to the thigh’
5- Bondo wire circle into the recess.
6- Make sure your leg is where you want it and hold until bondo kicks.
Good luck!
