Well guys I think I gave it a darn good shot. Been using Coleman fuel forever, sometimes going without. But I wanted to try the unleaded gas to see if it made a difference. Could never really get the smell out of the 2 ducks I did. They looked great, very clean, but the gas smell was just enough to make me a little sickly. And boy do I hate the smell of GAS. If it gets on me it stays for what seems like days. From time to time I notice a little film on the feathers of birds that I attribute to the Coleman. But at least there’s no residual smell. Going back to Coleman for these next 4 birds. ANyone using unleaded with no residual smell? If so what do you do?

Well I switched back & am very happy I did. Usually get 10-12 birds out of a gallon of Coleman. Approx. $1 per bird. Boy that unleaded fuel was just too rough on me. I think I’ll put a couple more together tomorrow just cause & that will finish up a good week on birds.

Coleman is just as bad for you, probably worse because you aren’t noticing the smell as bad and breathing in much more of it.

John, i use coleman as well. But for my comp pieces, I’ll use gas. Birds seem to have a better shimmer to them, and are brighter. But all gas work is done outside, even the drying. The smell will be gone in 3-5 weeks. I don’t have time to wash 4-5 times, spin them in a dryer, then blow dry. But that’s just me.
