Another way is to use crochet thread, red for the drake, yellow for the hens, of the approximate diameter, cut the right length, dipped in mod podge, and applied after they soak up a few minutes. The excess dried Mod Podge can be trimmed with a X-acto (pr Piranta) knife after it dries an hour later.
Naturally, this is for commercial mounts where time is money. I am just getting back into taxidermy after almost 30 years. This is my 4th mount since taking it up again.
