OfflineI have been doing real head/breast/tail wall displays for several years and a few lifesize turkeys recently. I experimented with artificial heads but prefer freeze dried. I have used two different companies for all of them. I decided to try a different company this time and now I have a small dilemma. I have some ideas on how to handle it, but I would like to hear as many suggestions as possible before I proceed. When I have received the heads in the past, they were on a form that had a neck stub that was about an inch to an inch and one quarter in diameter. They have all been 18 to 20 pound Rios. This one was no exception at 19 pounds. When I got this one back from the new company, it was on a huge form and the neck stub is two and one quarter inches in diameter. I don’t think this will work because on the past ones, an inch and one eighth was about right for wrapping the neck. How can I reduce the neck at least one inch if the head/neck retains the large diameter neck? My idea is to cut the neck material out up to the head and use alcohol to wet it and make it pliable. Then pin it around the one inch neck and let it dry much like I do to eyelids to change their shape. Any ideas?
I think you have a good plan. I normally groove my necks were they enter the head to make a smooth transition when I tuck in the skin/feathers. In this case, I do not think you could groove it enough to fit without the head looking ” too big” for the neck. I think your plan to bring it in with some alcohol is a good one.

I was looking for assignment writers and came across this post. I was searching for how long does freeze-dried turkey last? and found that shelf-Life: Freeze Dried White Turkey will store for 10 to 15 years in a sealed can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, freeze-dried meat should be used within 1 month if refrigerated, and 1 week if not.
