first mammal at that… critiques welcome, i already kno i goofed up on the nose pretty badly, and there r other problems with it… still have some finishing to do, keep that in mind while looking at the painting/dyeing…

Hey we all started some where !! it’s a learning experence. If I could offer some advice get some good photo references and it will really help you learn to get THAT LOOK your after.

thanks a bunch, im just happy its almost done at this point, I learned a lot doing this, not only was it my first critter with fur, but it was also my first time tanning, so that was interesting too… i’ve got three more coons in the freezer, its only up from here…

Ok here is a few pics to compare to your mount



in my opinion your ears are set a little high on the head your eye shape is off a little and like you said the nose is off. One ear is also turned a little more and they look a little to long if you understand what I am saying. I think the ears need to set down inside the head a little more to make them look like the pics I posted. That being said I think you are well on you way to mounting a good coon and you can go to http://www.pbase.com and get lots of ref. pics to look at for your next try. Hope this helps

no thats fine about the pics, thanks for ur time… and about the ear that looks too long, this lil guy got into a nasty scrap at some point and the tip of the right ear (left in pic) was bitten off, and if u see the whitish markings on the inside of the ears, thats scar tissue (probably from the same event), like i said im not done finishing and i havent done the inside of the ears yet… thanks for the reply
