OfflineGood Afternoon
Gentleman brought in a 8 – 10 year old Whitetail shoulder Mount he mounted personally. It was tanned with Mckenzie products and Buckeye Supreme hidepaste was used . He used brad nails to tuck the mouth (wut ???? ) that are clearly visible now and did not do any finish work.
I will be cleaning this mount , pulling the nails, reshaping and retucking eyes and lips…. woa those lips …. and then paint. Now most of my work is Furbearer , not Deer . Yes I do deer but not a large portion of my business which leads me to this question ….
The HYDRATION of this older mount. Perhaps Im overthinking my plans but I do need reassurance that soaking the areas with water, towel, bag the head is as simple as that ! Just water , towel wrap, and bag until soft.
Thankyou for suggestions and advice .
