Cleaning deer eyes|Gamehead and Lifesize Mammals|Forum|Taxidermy Talk

I am not sure why but the last deer I did the skin around one of the eyes seems to have shrunk a bit.  Not a lot but enough that the clay is showing just a little and it is irritating the snot out of me!  I used a scalpel to scrap some of it off but I worry about scratching the eye so I stopped.  Anyone got a suggestion on what I could use chemical wise to clean it with and remove the rest of the clay without causing damage to the skin or eye? If an administrator reads this I would like to report a problem I have when posting (and it happened on while trying to post this thread also).  It seems the only way lately I can get a post to submit is to use an emoticon.  Without on the post just sits there and goes nowhere. I am not a big user of these things but if that is the only way I can post I guess I will.
