I bought a couple coyotes already skinned raw frozen. Did the usual process of fleshing (very fat coyotes, they must have had a lot of carcasses to feast on!) and tanning. I laid the skins out and measured but somehow it does not seem right. I didn’t stretch them, just laid them out flat and I got a girth of 16 inches upstretched at the gut (the gut seemed to be the widest) and lengths of 40 and 42 inches. The necks seem like they are entirely too long.
How do you guys do measurements without a carcass?
Vic
Its difficult in my book. I know you wont want to her this, but your going to need to buy a couple of forms that are close and test fit.. I would also go ahead and stretch those skins as much as you can. Although you are probably close on the Length measurements already.

I don’t do Facebook!
I know everyone is thinking, “What?” As an educator I steer clear of all this social media stuff so when my students as what my facebook is I can honestly say, “I don’t have one.” I have seen too many teachers who encountered problems with students over this so I choose to just not get involved in it years ago.
However, you did give me an idea. I will contact Brian on the other forum. I have previously regarding his Easy Face system and he was very helpful. Thanks for the suggestion!
Vic
I never measure for a form until I have the tanned skinned,if it’s a dry tanned skin it needs completely soaked up and stretched for girth in the belly and neck and also in the legs get it stretched for girth and order as close as possible to that , length I don’t worry much about as I do the girth , wet tanned critters will give u more stretch than a dry tan

OfflineThanks again Tommy! I contacted Brian on the other forum and he told me how to get to it. In case anyone is wondering this is the easy way (I think)!
The part I was looking for starts at about 5:02. The first part is carcass measurement.
Vic
Hmmm: It appears the link is posting the whole video. I was just wanting to post the web address
