Sharp mounts folks.  One of these days I will stop playing around and get some real training instead of DVD’s so I can do decent work.

Vic, all Linda and I have learned from was videos. We have had no formal training, no hands on. I know our mounts are far from perfect though.

Mason, I have a couple different videos and I guess my mounts look “OK” but in my mind they always fall short of what I envision as a great mount.  Of course everyone says they are good but is it because they don’t know good taxidermy, don’t want to insult me, or like my wife, would say anything I do looks great, who know?!!

With school and all I haven’t got a lot of opportunity to go to shows.  Last summer the North Carolina show just happened to jive with my schedule and I went with a mule deer and got a real critique.  It was an eye opener!

Anyway, great mounts everyone.

Videos are nice , but there’s nothing like hands on training whether it’s a 1 on 1 or a group seminar at a state show, our state try’s to do at least one most of the time 2 at our state show, our last show we had a bear shoulder bands on for $50 all you had to do was provide a skin Roger Martin from Mckenzie was the instructor. I hear guys say all the time they can’t afford 1 on 1 training well yes you can , your prices need raised if you can’t ?

Tried to attend 2 seminars at the PA show a few years back. 1 was canceled and the other was changed into something completely different. Haven’t attended the show since then.

Were they hands on ? If there’s not enough participants the seminar will get cancelled, not sure what the other one was that was turned into something else ?
