I don’t use them exclusively, but I do like them. I’ll get bored and switch back and forth between the pre-rotated Eppley’s and the competition Eppley’s and the original Joe Meder’s. All 3 will give you a good shaped eye lid.
I was looking at pics, of the Joe Coombs deer eyes with the membrane made into them. I think Im gonna try them. I liked the shape, but you will be limited to eye positioning since the membrane is fixed in place.
Any one else tried these?

D you better order a few pair of them because I found that the membrane is not molded in the same place on the eyes. You just have to match up a pair to use them and I have used them in a couple of comp deer and they look nice just wish they were more consistent setting the membranes.
I like the Coombs eye. They look good mounted up.But I don’t order them anymore because like D said your limited on rotation.
I use Epply true eye’s on 90% of my deer. You have to get use to being a little more careful not to scratch them. Sand the end of a small wooden handle of a paint brush flat on both sides to tuck eyes along with a brush. Clean with denatured alcohol.
Thanks for the good reviews guys, I really appreciate it, especially since I usually do the eyes, it means a lot knowing my hard works being noticed. I know glass wont scratch as easily, but after you get past the learning curve that they have they are a really great eye.
Only eye on the market that is completely cast, the only thing we did to it was polish the mold to get a slick surface. I think rubber hit that eye before the eye even clouded over, lol
But seriously if you can get past the plastic your golden, and they are really economical. Its the only eye I will use, but if we didn’t have the eye made I would probably use the Joe Medor without the extra brown. Even though I think the Iris is backwards, its still the nicest glass eye out there.
I never knew the Joe Coombs eye was that flat on the front, does that cause any problems modeling your eyes? I imagine that it would have a hard angle coming off of the coruncle.
Clean looking eye though, I like the membrane too.
