Ya you have your eyes set too deep and the muzzle is too big causing you to stretch you nose down too much notice from the back of the nose to the front how much it slants down, a lot of times those muzzles are sculpted to big , also the ears are set too far back looks like they are set off the head , shorter muzzle , next time when you are skinning a bear head take note of how far those ears are from front of eye socket
Thanks for the critique Joe. I did not skin this one out; I purchased it already tanned (which I almost never do). I have a lot of different CD photo albums but for some reason when I ordered them I did not get a bear so I had to depend on Outdoor Life/Field & Stream type photos. Before I attempt another one of these guys this is on the priority list to purchase.
Something always gets in the way when you have plans. I was planning to get some training this summer while I had the time off. I had the funds saved up and put on the side. (I was planning to take this skin to mount during that instructional time) That money is all going down the drain, literally. We have to replace out septic system. The old one is shot. Well, maybe next summer if nothing else comes up.

OfflineTaxidermy Training Unlimited has a bear DVD by a world champion. It is for life size, however, it applies to heads as well. I used his cougar DVD to do the heads for rug mounts and it really helped. The rest of the video for the rest of the body had good tips that could be used on other animals as well, so, I think the bear one would have the same value.
As for your mount, eyes and ears were what stuck out to me also. Even so, it is not a bad job at all and would only need a few little tweaks. Congrats on doing a good job on a first.
Thanks Joe and Tanglewood for the input. I needed someone else to look at it and tell me what I really need to work on. And I know I need lots of work before I ever would consider doing any kind of commercial work. However, that will be years into the future, if ever!
Taxidermy is my escape from reality when I have the time for it during the school year where I can go and get my mind off my students and the ever consuming task of daily lesson plans and grading papers.
