Krusher, that’s a good size deer around here. Necks won’t swell for another month. Our deer run 150-180lbs for 2 year old and up. Towards the middle and western part of the state they’ll hit 200lbs! That deer is probably 3yrs old.

Is it my bad eyes, or does he still have velvet? We don’t get to tan many deer from that part of the country, I think D gets them all! They’re a lot like what I call an Arkansas type, a welcome relief when you’ve been running a bunch of capes from here out to Krushers section!;)

That short hair sure makes for a slick mount. You guys have a lot of rubs on the armpits and chest on your capes from that area?

Yes, he is in velvet…You can kind of see a sliver hanging from his left beam…Personally, most of the deer I take in don’t have rubbed chest. I took one in from Ohio last year, and his brisket area looked pretty rough.

S. E. part of the state you see some rubs, quite a bit in Pa. deer, guessing it’s from the lice or whatever that nasty looking bug is, making them itch. Really bad on the Arkansas type.
