Haven’t posted in a while but this is a neat Little critter I mounted. He had some short ears don’t know if it come from frost bite or what but it was fun mounting something different for a change 🙂

The Ibex has no smell at all and the ram has almost lost all that smell now but it took 2 or 3 weeks for it to go away

Nice looking mounts, unique cape on the goat. They might be calling it an Ibex, but I think there was something different in the wood pile somewhere. There is a breed of goat that just has little nubs for ears! Ibex don’t smell near as bad as a goat either;)

Keith I think something messed up his ears they appeared to be cut off. The Ibex really had very little smell just kinda a cool animal to mount for me.

Just for conversation purposes, Tuggy, I’m with Keith on this one. I think there was something other than Ibex in the wood pile. The horns do make me think there could be Ibex there somewhere. But that cape and hair texture look nothing like what I call an Ibex.

Now if it came off of a game ranch it could have all kinds of goat and maybe even human:biggergrin: mixed up in it. Come to think of it, it kinda favors one of our shavers.LMAO

…And as for the ears, if it did come off of a game ranch, my guess is they were cropped due to having the big floppy goat ears and so it wouldn’t look like a pet.

None the less, it is a cool looking creature and if the customer thinks it’s an Ibex and is happy with that, I am too. Great job Tuggy.

Here is a, what the client is calling a Texas Dall with the same type ears and they are healed over like they were cropped. I ran across it today in the shaving room, and thought about this thread.

Is there a goat farmer here that can shed some light on this issue?

This was taken in PA. Mike was lucky enough to get to mount it. Not something you see every day!

Hey D, ibex do not have the stripe running up the face. That might be some corsican in it. I did find a goat/ibex hybrid on google and they have longer droopy ears. So they get cropped to sell an ibex hunt. But in Turkey, they have them wild and SCI has recognized them.

I know there are variences in the Ibex family, such as Nubian, African, Spanish, Alpine and so on, but what I consider to be an Ibex looks more like this with the fuzzy(wooly) short greyish hair.
