I was not really sure whether to put this in this category or the General but here goes.
What is the slowest drying hide paste you know of? I am getting ready to start on a lifesize bear (not a monster but my biggest project ever to date) and I know it will take me more than a day. Is there a hide paste available that takes three days to cure? Longer is better so I can go back and continue to tweek it as needed.

I use a Dextrine hide paste – WASCO’s Sallie Dahmes Hide Paste. Also, Joe Coombs Classic Hide Paste is another very good choice! You can mix it as thick or as thin as you like. I prefer it to be about as thick as peanut butter. I paint it on with a brush, apply the cape … adding more where and when needed.

It takes several days to set up. I also use 20-gauge and 18-gauge hide nails, and babysit it for the first three to four days. Great stuff!!! Good luck to you!
