This is an armature for an original sculpture of a clay model for an African Wildcat. The interesting thing, is the only actual, natural bone is the skull. The leg bones, and Pelvis are carved from Basswood, and the Scapula are carved from archery target foam. The toe bone groups have been completed and only now need to be Shellacked, allowed to dry, then attached to the foot wires. I should be starting the clay work by the end of this week, or early next week. It will then be molded and offered for sale as a commercial mannikin. It’s been a while since I created a mannikin, so this is exciting for me again.

Only you folks here are seeing this, as I no longer post on the ‘Manson Family Forums’ … aka Taxidermy.nut!
I don’t know what is happening with Photobucket, but it seems I cannot access my account. So here is a smaller image of the one that I originally posted. This is so crazy!

*** Okay, I was able to repost the original size photo above where I originally had it … Yay!:D ***
All clay, D.
I thought about at least building out her rib cage area in foam, but this is such a small mammal, all clay will work out for the best. This way I can keep to my measurements without the worry that the underlying foam made her too round in the ribs, as Cats are slab-sided. I can control that with an all clay sculpt!
