Well I guess ‘fawn’ is a better term for this little guy. He was still born from a pen raised herd. Whoever skinned/tanned him decided to dorsal cut rather than belly so I had lots of tiny stitches to put into this one. I went with a 1/2 life size so that I didn’t have to deal with the back legs. This is also my first ‘form free’ mount, done with carved foam, wrap, and clay. I know there are lots of problems with it, but I’m pleased for my first.

Thanks, and Tax-E makes a good point, but it is because in this photo it looks like the left leg ends in the hoof, however when you see it in real life the left leg goes under the body and the hoof that is exposed in the right hoof and therefore is ‘hoof down’.
Deer are so much harder than foxes.
And for the record…I’m a girl. giggle.
