These just came in today. It’s at 13 total. It’s bear if the pictures don’t show good.I have went up on prices to try to slow it down (AND IT AIN”T).I’m glad people trust me with there trophy but i may be bit off more than i can chew. It’s at the point i think im going nuts.Half of theses are going to be rugs the other half mounts.I just came in from Cocoa Beach FloridaToday, from moving bees last night and all this .They just kept calling it seems like all the way home wanting to know when i was going to be home. For you guy’s who don’t know i’m a full time beekeeper and part time taxidermist.I’m posting not to get an (o you poor lil feller) LOL.I’m just relieving some stress by writing.OOOOOO if you have any suggestions i’m all for them. Thanks for reading I’m thruogh.
I Clear 350 Per rug.In other words,I keep up with tanning, rug shell, shipping and material, then add 350.I give them a round about figure and tell them it could be more or less.Hope i’m not to cheap, don’t want to be labeled as a cheapo.I put i down D and went to bed,it was a long 2 days at Cocoa beach. And the life size small bear i’m doing runs 1800 with no base,We are going to customize a base and habitat scence and i’m keeping up with material and labor and that will tap on to the 1800.The small bear is 125 lbs.The Half size mounts are 650 closed mouth 750 open.If i’m to low tell me guy,s i am at the same prices as the other taxidermist and they are still bringing them. You all please give me some feed back.
Honeybee man :
your too cheap! my half bodys start at $850 for small up to 150#,$950 for medium 151#to 300#, $1100 for large 300# to 450#, $1300 for extra large 450# or larger, open mouth are $125.00 more Rugs are $150.00 per foot. As far as stress goes our bear season just ended and I have 62 total bears in the walk in freezer at the moment. Almost 40 of them are rugs!
You da man.LOL.I’m just trying to find time to do them.I think i’ll take Pages suggestion and say no.I was staying at the same prices the rest of the taxidermist are around here till today.Got to go get in the shop i’m off a lil early today from the bees so i’ll check in tonight to see you all.My prices just went up,so i might not do many and it may give me time to come and compete and see you Guy’s.Our bear season dosn,t run but nine days, and for a guy use to doing 2 or 3 bear it has added a little stress.
I would like to thank you guy’s for the input on this. I know i posted a lot on this thread but i really had a hard time trying to figure out what would be the best way to do this.Maybe i’ll start making a lil money at this ,Because after seeing Pages breake down of a mount , i was working for( FREE).Not now;)
H Bee, I’m charging $335 per foot, with a $2250 minimum. But that includes the mount with a double felt border, scalloped edges, 2 layers of quilt batting, and a satin liner to hold it all in. It’s all sewn by hand with a blind stitch so as not to see the stitches. If you don’t have to do anything but mount the head and stretch it, your not doing to bad. Make sure your charging enough for your cleaning labor on top of the tanning bill.

OfflineAnybody got any pics of rugs with no backing or felt? Ive got 2 rugs to do with no felt or backing. These are my first bear projects. What do I do with the feet? Sew them up and leave them empty or put something in there? I’m charging $100 ln ft for no felt and $175 ln ft with felt. $100 more for open mouth. Wish me luck, let me know what you think of my pricing and if you got any pictures of rugs with no backing please share them. Oh …. and what the heck do I do with the feet? 🙂
