Nah, I’ve mounted plenty of deer with that goofy angle to the rack, I just assumed that’s what this was.
Hinson, yeah I was talking about the eyes. D and I had the same discussion some time back so I figured he would know what I meant. His style is just the sleepy eye look and I give him crap for it. We all have our own style that make our mounts recognizable, I’m guilty of the same thing.
Yes Cole, I knew what you were talking about. And yes that’s the way the antlers grew.
The relaxed eye looks more appealing to me. I think its better than “What The Hell Was That” look. As Cole stated it’s just one of my signatures, I guess.
If you see a pic of a live deer that’s alert with ears forward and eyes wide open he knew the photographer was there. If you see a pic with the more relaxed look he has not detected the photographer or he is a tame deer in a pen.

Ok Cole, I know you are foaming at the mouth to break out some reference pics, so go ahead.
Remember the conversation we had about wrinkles in the necks of sharp turns? These two don’t have them either.
Notice the throat patch on the first pic, how off center it is. What would a judge say about that on a comp piece?
