I had a 1/2 life size bear. Sure would be nice if there was the same variety in form selection as deer. I had to make the girth and head bigger and replace the back board. Still have to finish sewing one leg and down the chest when I get home from work. I HATE SEWING!!! I have had a few customers tell me horror stories about having large ( 350 lb bear ) mounted and got back a (much smaller) 150 lb bear with wrinkled elephant skin. I wonder how many taxidermist either don’t know how to alter a form or don’t want to take the time? I’m definately due for a price increase next year.
You would be surprised how many don’t know how to alter a form. I’ve met guys that don’t even have foam in their shops. I ‘ve even heard of guys that don’t know how to tan and prep a skin. They get the tanneries to do all the work so they can glue it to the form.:innocent: I have to charge more for our bears than grizzlies, with all the alterations involved. Grizzlies are alot easier to do than our giant blackies.
