The reason your post did not show up is because you were posting a link to a picture on one of your very firsts posts and it had to be approved to make sure you were not a spammer. Still learning the security features we have installed. Didnt realize that I had to approve a new users link untill yesterday.

TAX, if you will go back and look my ears are more in the forward position than the one you posted. So mine would not be rotated down as far. Plus the angle of the camera is totally different. Notice the location of the deers back you posted. the camera is looking down on him, my photo was taken directly from the side.
Good try though. I’ll give you an “A” for effort. I like the way you cropped the eye out of mine to attempt to make it look more like yours.

Here is the same ear from a different angle, closer to the one you posted. The only difference is your deer is turned to the right, and mine is turn to the left. Thats why there is more of the back showing in your pic. Details it’s all about details.

I asked prior to the critique if that’s what you were looking for. Don’t be ticked now that I gave you one, you could have declined it.
Now that the deer is mounted you can really see the problems with the eyes. Compare the angle of the upper lid where it comes out of the front corner with the reference. See why yours looks so squinty? What’s your opinion? BTW, I’m not sure what age has to do with anything? 17 year old Daniel Meng just took a blue ribbon at the WTC, do you think you could learn anything from him? Maybe you can learn something from me too?

All three deer you posted have different shaped eyes. They are just like people no two are the same and they change expressions with their moods. I’m not even gonna get into comparing a doe to a buck. I never said mine was perfect and didn’t question what you said about the eyes. But when I pointed out the ears you went back to the eyes. Whats up with that? I’m not “ticked” I just don’t agree with what you are saying. It sounds to me like you don’t want to be called out, not me. What about the ears?
Maybe I can learn something from you. Show me how you sculpt your deer eyes and ears.
If you took a deer to a comp with the eyes that looked like the buck you posted I guarentee you it would get knocked for eye shape and the finish work.
…And the reason my deer is squinting is when the camera flashed he blinked.
Whats your real name TAX? …and out of all the other pics posted here, why did you ask me about a critique? I don’t mind, I know I’m not perfect. I’m sure not afraid of a little criticism, but I think it would be fair to know who it was coming from. What part of Iowa are you from? Then again something tells me you are not really from Iowa. The midwest maybe, but not Iowa. Am I right?
I really appreciate you pointing out some things to me, I can’t wait to see some of your work posted here.
This is what I said about the ears:
It’s really tough to tell though from pictures. It’s much easier if you can see it in person.
I said that in my original post.
As for the deer in the reference pics, yes they all have different eye shapes which is what makes them real live animals with different attitudes. One thing they do all have in common though, none of them have an asian squint in the front. I should have known better than to even offer a critique. It’s obvious you aren’t taking it seriously, and now you need me to show some clay work of my own so you can quote “learn something?” I would hope that you would learn more from a live reference photo than you would from pics of my clay work.

Who is it you think I am? My name is James and you are right, I live in Osceola Ia. I just joined your little forum here, and this was one of the first threads I read. I’m certainly not stalking you, I don’t even know who you are. Against my better judgement I offered an opinion, one that you easily could have declined.
Wildlife, I thought I explained myself pretty well in the reference pics with arrows but apparently you didn’t get it. I’m talking about the look from head on, not from the side. Post a pic of that same eye expression head on and it won’t look like Mr. Price’s. It looks like I have questioned the wrong member on here, and the witch hunt has begun. I suppose no one else sees any problems with that eye?
