TAX, there is no witch hunt here. And I have already stated that I am not perfect. “James” is not your name and you are not from Iowa.
I know who you are and where you are from. If you want to continue to play this game, thats fine I’ll play along. I really think you mean no harm and are just pulling my chain. Only time will tell.
I will not divulge you identity at this time. It’s actually kind of fun isn’t it? I think I know who you are, and you are sitting there wondering if I’m bluffing you or not. Have a nice a day “James from Iowa”.
LMAO
No Witch hunt I just asked a question if you thought if it had that Asian Squint. Because that is what my eyes tend to look like . And if I need to do something different with them.
As far as the photos you posted as Ref. they look to me it is an Alert deer expression Eyes wide open
not a relaxed look.
Ok Tax you have just given an award winning taxidermist a critique…….some may agree, and some may dissagree with your critique. This is all part how we differ in reading reference right? You are new “here” so as far as I know ,nobody knows who you are or what “your” work looks like …..which is just fine cuz it’s not manditory to post your work before you give a critique right? ….But I think I have seen just about every other members work on here. I think and I’m just think’n(doesn’t happen often:p) you should post some of your work so we got an idea where you are come’n from. Again not manditory but I think most of us would really like to see it. It sounds like you know what you are doin a bit so I’m sure it’s pretty nice. Tricky

I viewed the deer in question at D’s place this last weekend and quite frankly the angle of the photos distort the actual look of that mount!

I thought maybe you would post a pic of some of your work ………….not just an eyeball…I do like the eye shape but “I” think it’s a little flat “lacking shape” on top. I’m interested in what kinda critique you would give me on one of my mounts Mr.E-dermist. I have one posted “Goin home today” go hand me my butt cuz I’m always look’n to improve since I’m still a rookie in my 3rd year.
Mill Creek, If I’m not worthy of offering an “award winning taxidermist” an opinion, what makes me worthy of me offering you one on your mount? Maybe you should seek someone with more ability and experience to critique your work. I had hoped we could have a discussion about reference, and maybe agree or disagree on some of the things I pointed out. Instead everyone wants to make this about me and my abilities and experience. How about we all step back, look at the pictures that have been posted and discuss what we see in them.
Scott, with all due respect to yourself and Mr. Price, I’m not sure how the angle of the photo (from straight on) can distort the appearance of the upper eyelid.

It’s all good, I’m still a rookie so I have plenty to learn and lots of room for improvment yet !!!!! If you are refering to the ONE stink’n blue ribbon I got in my avatar , dont let that fool ya……a squirl can find an acorn every once in a while ….or however that line goes lol ! I have NO IDEA who or what your experience level is so I was see’n what you might think of my mounts is all. I’m not goin after you cuz were some kinda team here lol, that kinda crap is at the “OTHER” site ! Take care
Looks guys I just didn’t push the front corner of the eye up high enough. Thats the deal. I’m pissed that we have blown this out of proportion.
TAX, I appreciate the critique. I will post another one this weekend and see if I have learned anything.
Just remember I know who I’m talking to, these other guys don’t. I’m still not sure why you don’t use your real name, “James”.

Never say your sorry D it shows WEAKNESS!!! LOL:innocent:
My first time to look around on this forum and “wow” I just learned something. Everybody does not make their eyes look alike! I’ve only been doing this for about——-oh—–16Yrs? and I still have never seen two taxidermist that set eyes the same way. I guess that means the fellow that telling us how to do it knows. I usually guess at it!!
D you and I had this discussion last weekend at length, as far as references go you can take a picture of a live deer’s eye and at any one time it will do a hundred different things, I mount my deer for green ribbons $$$
Show me any two deer alive that have the exact same eye or look.

Yep. How many different pictures did i show you last week. Some of the same deer that looked totally different. It’s no different than taking photos of 100 people. They will be different. Especially the Asian ones.
