Rodney, that second picture reminds me of my grandfather’s bedroom. The string tied to the bed for the light. Lord, that was quite a few years ago.

Great Daddy Rod, you are bringing back some great memories. My Dad use to own the cotton gin in Ridgeville.( A bank sits there now) But man, the memories of that place, looks like you took them right outta the Ridgeville gin! I have an oil painting of it. Thanks

5th picture, the one with the ‘Munger Continental Gin Co’ sign, what is that in the background to the left of the machines?

You are still finding places, I see. I don’t recognize any of the new ones, you must be going away from my house. Some of the others look like you were down around Middlesex, NC.

I guess they didn’t have a lot of these nostalgic sites down in Miami?

If you had been over this way Friday, when I came home, you could have gotten some good shots of the migrants hand priming Tobacco. It is all but a dying practice as the government has made all the buy outs, and most everyone that is left does it with machinery now.

For a split second I thought of stopping and helping a little bit, just to do it one more time, but I kept going and stored it in my memories somewhere, to hopefully share with my grandkids some day. There ain’t nothing like digging Tobacco Gum out from under your fingernails.

They were actually stripping the stalks right by the house here.

This is definately not the short rows in this old pic, but it’s not the longest either. Walking like that would make you an old man fast.
