…last night to learn the news that a 16 year old kid that I have coached in baseball along with my son, suffered a brain aneurysm.

He actually coded and they were able to bring him back. He was life flighted to Duke University where he was placed on life support.

Around noon today there was still no brain activety and the family made the decision to remove him from the machine. He passed away right at 2pm today.

I went to school with both of his parents, and he and my son have played ball together, fished together at the beach, a great family to be around. I have not talked to them, as I have no words that I can say to them at this moment.

This kids last 2 post on Facebook was Bible verses, he nor his family deserve this, but life isn’t fair.

I’m not posting this asking for prayers and thoughts, but they are more than welcome in this time of need for this family.

My reason for posting this is, if you left Surry unhappy about the outcome of your competition piece, just be happy you made it home safe, and for God’s sake hug your kids a little tighter tonight. Because it could very possibly be the last time you see them.

Here are his last 2 Facebook post:

Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Matthew 6:33-34
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

D. this is heart wrenching. Your right, there are not words that can justify a tragedy of this nature.

As a mother of a 2 children (age 19 and 16), I can only imagine the pain that Jacob’s mama is feeling right now along with his daddy, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jacob was a great young man and like D. said he was taken way too early. Heaven has gained a special angel. Praying that God will wrap his arms around the Spain family and comfort them in the difficult days ahead.
Please pray for the Spain family.

Sorry to hear such tragic news. It is unimaginable, to say the least. God bless to all of the family and friends of this young man.

WOW! Sounds like an amazing young man! If he believes (and I’m sure he does) what he posted on facebook then I’m sure God put him to work pretty quickly. D- two thumbs up on the comment about competition and being thankful for life in general. Praying for everyone!
