Thanks for the help. Cameron
Cameron welcome to taxitalk.
I know you want to try and impress your girls dad, but as Ken said, the best thing is remount it or leave it alone. If you are unsure of how the cape was prepared ie. tanned, DP’ed, ect…you could make the problem worse.
If you really want to move forward with it, post some pics here for us to look at and see if we can figure out exactly what you need/can do. Get pics of the back where the skin wraps around, and if possible the skin side if you can fold it over on the back. Also show us the repair area you are asking about, and anything else that can help us determine what method was used.
Ken Smith wrote: u can put a wet towel over the stiches and wrap it with a trash bag it will soften up where u can stich it back up , might take a few days to soften up , i would try to talk him into a new cape and a remount JMO
If you do try to soak it up I would let him know there is a good chance it could start tearing and falling apart
Here is a link explaining how to post pics. If you still have trouble, email them to me and I can post them for you if you wish.
That little spot on the lower left side looks like it was tanned, but still hard to tell. Do you see any powder stuck to the skin on the back side or does it look like it was tanned.
Yes I can remount it for you. It will be $600 plus the cost of a new cape, unless you have a replacement cape around the same size. Just hang on and lets see if you get any feedback from anyone else.
