I have a Paasche H1 brush that I generally run at around 45 psi. This problem I am having seems to only be with black paint. It seems to get the paint to spray I have to open it up wide and then adjust it down. However, if I stop painting, when I try to start airbrushing again it will stall and I have to go through the process again. I have tried both the water and lacquer based paints and have the same problem. I have gotten new paints and tried it, I have added lacquer thinner, still the same problem. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your paint is clogging because it is drying in the tip. You have to open the spray up to clean it out.
I would try turning your psi up to 60. That should cure it up. I have ran it at 90 psi and it actually worked good.
You could also use a retarder .
