Same here. It doesn’t hurt to tan them, but we found DP is more then adequate .

OfflineI have done both with an outcome that was about equal. I have both tanned and DP’d squirrels from nearly 20 years ago and both methods have faired about the same. Since this is the case for me, I see no reason to go through the steps and expense of tanning, except that the tanned ones seem to have a cleaner feel and more fluffy fur, which is probably my imagination, and if you use hide paste, you don’t have to worry about having to use one that is compatible with DP, which is really no big deal. If I have a tanning process going on, I’ll throw them in with the other hides. If not, they get DP’d.
