OfflineI was walking along the roadside on my way back from the market and I saw some golden fuzz on black on the side of the road. I took a closer look and it was a dead bat. The heat from the asphalt and sun had turned it to jerky. Thing is, I found it in remarkably good condition. all it’s little digits are there (even it’s tiny little claws), it’s ears and face are undamaged The only thing is he has a hole in his chest…like maybe an insect ate it’s way in or out?
Now, I have found antler and hoof and feathers on the side of the road that I have made into necklaces and such before. Never found a whole well preserved bat like this. I think it would make an awesome pendant, or maybe put it in a picture frame on a poster board or something.
Any ways, I don’t know what to do with a whole animal, lol (unless its a snake, as I know how to skin and board those from my childhood). Firstly, How can I disinfect it without damaging it? Also, it’s wings are folded up, and since it is basically a piece of jerky…is there any way to supple it back up and spread it’s wings out? I was thinking maybe I could decoupage it onto a block of wood… are there any issues that might arise with using polyurethane spray and Elmer’s glue?
