How many days do you allow for drying time on deer mounts? I keep my shop on 77deg, is 5 days enough?

No 14 days is normal. as a mount dries it will gain and drop moisture and you need to give it time to do this. Dont know what the correct terms are but I call it tempering. If you use a great two part hide paste you can get away with 5-7 days but check deep in the ears.

8-14 days here is the norm, I have pushed the temps in the drying room over a hundred with a few fans and finished in about three days ,you do have to babysit it because stuff will move dryng that fast……DC

Craig with the techniques I use, I can mount a deer on Saturday and it will be dry on Wednesday. No pins, no carding no special glues. That is a NC deer, not a Canadian or Midwest deer. It’s all about hide preparation, the correct manikin, and the right size manikin.

Hot air is humid air, cold air is dry air. thats how it works. Unless you are int he desert somewhere.

Thanks for the info. I have the ac set at 77 and a ceiling fan that runs 24/7 and they seem to be dry in 7 days. Just wondering how long it took everyone else.
