I use bondo as my adhesive for my ear liners. I think the ear liner gives me a natural looking ear and the bondo fills any voids from the liner. I am new to the game though, so I am interested in the glue most use with ear liners? I do rough the ear liner and apply the bondo directly to the ear liner before I insert it in the ear.

Craig this is how and what I use on my earliners. I have started using Pro1 hide paste(but any good hide paste will work) I take a piece of sand paper or a rougher and roughin up the earliner then I use Acetone or Lacquer to rub on the liner and inner ear( this is to get oil and slickness off earliner and skin). Then apply the paste to the liner and slide in. I dont even card my ears and really have no problem with drumming.

Surely not, that doesn’t make any sense. Bondo hair is body filler with glass mixed in, and when you use Bondo you add your own glass. They are the same, and can both be thinned to the thickness of a potato chip if you want. Maybe taz will clarify.

Bondo-hair is resin and glass only , There is no filler so it is much stronger than bondo

Guys you cant do one or two ears with bond and expect to have it down pat. Like any thing esle we do it takes some practice to get it right, fast, thin, i wont to say perfect but thats stretching.
Dont get me wrong earlinners are simple to install. i stated taxidermy 28 years ago using bondo somewheres i switched to linners. Did it that way for several years untill i started seeing a lot of ears that had drumed with linners. Then looking at some of the very first deer i ever did with bondo still like the day they where done. Well it was a no brainer for me back to bondo. Even switching back to bondo took some practice to get it GOOD again. I think the biggest mistake with people and bondo is you do not remove the cartilage in the ear. If you do its like putting cement and a sock.

I use bondo, resin, and chopped glass fiber. The quality of the ear is just as good as any earliner or even better. Many people will use resin from walmart, it contains was and that works as a release agent in the ear. Use unwaxed resin!!!. Like any ear method you must split the ear totally out. I see people claiming the use earliners, made of screen wire and then they bondo the darned thing. That friens is a bondo ear!.

The trick to getting a bondo resin ear thin is lower setting and use lacquer thinner on the hair side to allow your hands and fingers to slide over the ear to work the mix down thin.

If you are doing a competition mount, you can do this and oil the ear and then pull the bondo mix to make your own custom earliner. then remove the cartilage etc and work the earliner down super thin and then glue it up.

Like any method bondo/resin take time to learn and works, its worked for several world champions!

Commercial work, it says. I have been using an earliner with paste, but it needs babysitting for a couple of days. I was recently shown a way to use bondo with a liner with the cartilage removed, and in a few minutes you don’t have to mess with it again. Looked good, I will probably try it this season and see what I think.
