Im wondering what is the best way to get the horns off of this buffalo head so I can let my bugs clean it up? Any help would be greatly apreciated. I havent ever had the oppertunity to work on an Antelope yet either and I would think that removing the horns would be similar. Oh… One more question.. Who all is going to be at the world show in Illinois this year? Im gunna be there to attend all the seminars and learn learn learn. Not gunna compete since I havent learned anything about competition mounts yet. Maybe in 2015? Anyhow… help on the horns and hope to meet some of you at the show.

Is this an American Bison or an African Cape Buffalo you are asking about?

If I get an African Cape Buffalo before I do an Antelope I will be more than suprised 🙂 I live out here in Washington and have several friends who go Antelope hunting every year. Thanks for making sure I got a Headquarters magazine Mr Price. I will be placing an order soon.

If you put it in some water for a few days and let it start macerating, you can knock the sheaths off with little effort. I don’t have beetles but you may be able to put it in the beetles and then just knock them off in a few days.

A Cape Buffalo is a whole nother ballgame.

Wrap the horns tightly with plastic wrap and put in your bugs for a couple days until you can slide them off the cores. Then take the horns out and leave the cores in the bugs until clean…The beetles will eat the horns if your not careful

I was afraid that they would eat them. Thanks for the info.
