Where can I get the best method for pinning on farm raised racks that have been cut off.
Some I rebuild the bottom 3 to 4 inches.
Some I have the bases that were found once they dropped off.

I have tried several methods for removable racks. some cheap, some expensive. The expensive type game me more adjustment, however was reall hard to stabilize.

Thanks
Steve

Here is what I do, I start with a donor skullplate,

then I find some bolts that are long enough, I normally use 2 1/2 x 5/16 but It depends on the job.

Then I drill some holes in the antlers,

Then I bondo the bolts into the antlers.

Then I attach the antlers to the skull plate.

Then I line everthing up, secure with the nuts on the underside, and rebuild the burrs and pedicals….Hope this helps….DC

Jeremy, me and a buddy are working on a line on repica skullplates that have an extended pedical just for cut-offs. We were talking of doing a DVD on attaching cut-offs and sheds to send with the skull plates…DC

Thanks so much for taking the time to post these responses.
Great work.
D.C I rebuild the bottom 2 to 3 in of the bases. Do you do that also on the cut off’s ?
They are the most difficult.
Trying to match the set on the head as they were when alive.
Again thanks for the input.

On the ones that need it. On those I use longer bolts and I put a nut top and bottom on the skullplate then use all game and rebuild the missing antler and the burr…DC

Craig I use wood Stain, I first give them a wash of linseed oil and laquer before staining. It keeps them from being to dark…DC

Thes are not. You can make them removeable by useing square tubeing and square stock instead of the bolts…DC
