Over the years of doing taxidermy i have thrown away many a freezer burned hide as i did not think there were anyway possible to save them. But now i throw away nothing as if you have a badly burned hide, you can inject alcohol/water mixture into the burned lips or ears and soften them up. You can also if you have access to a pressure washer use it to help soften badly burned hides. I have hides (javelina lifesize) as a perticular one i just rehydrated that i softened with the washer and then pickled and tanned. So if you have anything questionable before throwing away, try this out to see if you can save it. Just food for thought
