I start out every year planning on mounting a piece to carry, but for the last two years there has been a family emergency that has came along and throwed a monkey wrench in it all. I hope I’ll get something mounted up to carry this year. Its hard to stop the money jobs and work on my personel pieces….DC
Most of us do that. at the NTA in Spg.IL I was going to Hobby Lobby for some habitat stuff. My wife was whining about me waiting until that night to do the habitat. I told her its tradition, everyone waits. Then as we were elaving Hobby lobby we saw Several taxidermist I knew doing the samething. I waved to make sure she saw them!!! Its bad moojoo to have anything finished before the show weeks in advance!
I am trying to figure out how I can move my little shop to Rogers a week before the next NTA show, that way I can finish thing almost on site, since I have to be there a day or two early to help setup.

Hey John I know a few taxidermist that would love to do that with you:) If it works like it usually does for me I will be doing finish work in the motel room:( LOL
Cathy , your right! The stress of last minute finishing leaves a lot to be desired. Working on planning mine now, I have a lot of work to get done and deer season is here again. But, at least I have a plan for the shows next year, kinda winged it this season did fairly well.
The past few shows I’ve run it up to the wire or finished the mount (detailing) in the motel room. But hey, its the ctitique I want from the judge and anyone else who will oook at the piece I brought. One of these days I will alot myself enough time to do a truely professional piece, but either shipyard or taxidermy work seems to keep me from getting that time!
