I have 3 squirrels to mount to go on a whitetail pedestal mount. I hate mounting “tree rats” and haven’t mounted one in probably ten years. Just wondered how you guys were preserving your squirrels. I have had problems in the past tanning them. Also what do you do to keep hair tight in tail. I have actually split a couple in the past and that was a nightmare! DP I have done also and did not really like those results either. Please give me some feedback.

TT581 will work fine and I can’t believe I am going to say this but Krow tan works good too.

I would personaly not pour salt down into the tail…I did one like this before and the salt was impossible to get out…I stick a wire through the tail to open it up, and stick it in Krowtan, right after I get done skinning.

If you don’t split tail all the way put something in tail like yarn or something that will draw pickle in. TT581 would be perfect for sqirrels .
