question old hides

found an old hide up at my parents , has been salted and dried . but not sure how old it is , my father must have done the hide before he got sick .
is there any way to save the hide and tan it ? its a really nice skunk and would like to finish his work .

hard to tell without soaking it up first, did you check it for rodent and bug damage?
