OfflineHey guys,
My name is John Higdon. I am new to this forum, but I am a 6 year Ecology/Conservation staff member (4 years as director) for Camp Buck Toms, a Boy Scout camp in Rockwood, TN. I have been working for the previous two years to improve our nature program greatly and am looking to reach out to you folks for some help.
To give you an idea of what we currently have, two years ago we added a display much like you see in a nature center. This includes 3 snake boxes, 1 55 gallon aquarium, a 40 liter terrarium, and three 10 gallon terrariums/aquariums. We also have a separate 55 gallon aquarium and will soon be installing a 90 gallon aquarium. Along with these, I have a lighted glass display case we use to display stuffed native snakes. If you are interested in pictures, I can email those to you. The files are too large to upload here.
Almost all of our snakes are worn out and faded from age. I’m not sure how long they have been there, but they clearly outdate me. I wanted to reach out to this group and see if anyone would be willing to donate some of their taxidermy work to our Nature/Ecology/Conservation department. This includes any mammal species (specifically squirrels, foxes, raccoons, deer, anything East TN related), birds, and reptile species native to east Tennessee.
My staff and I would greatly appreciate your help. I have found over they years that young scouts are much more attentive when there is something more than a picture in a book to look at.
If you can give us a hand, please feel free to give me a call at (423)462-5246 or send me an email to jhnhigdon@hotmail.com
Sincerely,
John M. Higdon
