Hey guys,

New member here looking for suggestions on any taxidermy schools anyone has had experience with.

I’m looking to hone my craft a bit more and possibly be a full-time taxidermist.

Several people I know have recommended Rinehart Taxidermy School in Wisconsin. Anyone know more about them? I think this is the link to their website: https://www.taxidermyarts.com/…..ome.aspx

Thanks

My opinion for what it is or isn’t worth.  Get some one – on – one training.  It may cost you a little more but you will be much further ahead much faster. Cool Find trainers who know what it takes to create great mounts and contact them for their rates and classes.

Best of luck whatever you decide!

From your post, I perceive that you already know the basics, however, I will give you my opinion on this from a general stance.

I know people who have gone to that school and I have researched it. I would advise against it. Dan Rinehart has a special line of deer forms that have the eyes and noses pre done. You will only learn to mount things on his forms.

This becomes a problem when you need to use another supply company’s form or do custom work. I have viewed his mammals, deer and birds and find the work to be mediocre commercial work at best.

I don’t like to be negative, however, I do believe in being honest and if you ask me a question I will give you an honest answer.

My advise for a school would be Troy Rose for all around taxidermy.

For just deer, it would be Rick Carter and for just birds, it would be Eugene Streksta. I may have butchered Eugene’s last name.

The sponsors of this website may give personal training, I don’t know if they do training beyond the Taxidermy Insider online video courses.

CoolI am with you on your post Tanglewood.  And I second Troy Rose!  (My understanding is that Troy doesn’t normally do fish; I could be wrong)  But he sure does one heck of a job with feathers and fur training.  Check out his site

and
