TT581 is the real deal!!!!!!!!!|General Taxidermy Discussion|Forum|Taxidermy Talk

Just mounted my first deer that was tanned using TT581. First off let me say that TT581 is not the same as KT2000. I have used many gallons of KT2000 and know it very well. The first thing you don’t notice about TT581 is a smell. While opening the container of TT581 I prepared myself for that strong knock you back nose hair burning smell I was use to, but to my surprize there was nothing even after putting my nose to the opening. I mixed the TT581 according to the directions and again no smell and no burning. After day one I remover the cape and could immediatly tell the TT581 was working. I did not shave at this time, I placed the cape back into the TT581 mixture. Day 2 I remover the cape and again there was no dought that the TT581 was working. I then shaved the cape and must say the cape shaved as good as if not better than any other tanning process I have ever tried. I placed the cape back into the Mixture of TT581. Day 3 I removed the cape and placed it straight into the neutralization mixture of water and baking soda for 30 mins. Rung the water out and did some final shaving to my liking. The TT581 cape had a very nice white look to it and appeared to be tanned instead of just presserved. After washing the cape in some HQ degreaser I rolled it in some towels to dry some of the water before mounting. The TT581 cape mounted great, had great stretch and felt very soft. The hair has a nice sheen to it that reminded me of some dry tanned hides that I have had professionally done. Overall i’m very pleased with TT581 and knowing that they have many years in the tanning industry to back them up really helps sell me on it.
