With hunting season upon us and still open water to fish, I’m sure there is a lot going on.  I have personally been doing a lot of fishing this fall and haven’t done any hunting yet.  I will be chasing ducks and geese in 2 days though.  Have you guys been taking in a lot of deer?  Any unique bucks?

What has everyone been up to?

I will tell you!  School work (I’m a math teacher) up to and past my eyeballs.  The time right now is 9:21PM and I am just finishing up my work for the day!  I shouldn’t complain.  This is early for some days.  Most of my weekend is already spoken for preparing things for my classes upcoming state exams the end of next week (Part I) and then in December (Part II).  Good thing I am only a hobbyist or my customers would be waiting years for their stuff to be mounted.

I wish I had a day to go sit in the woods.  Even if I didn’t get a deer it would be great but then I have to play catch up.

To all you who do have time, savor it!

Been working some long hours so I haven’t done much taxidermy lately.  Kind of saving that for when I am snowed in this winter.  Only been out with my bow once.  Bucks are just now starting to chase the does.  Gun season comes in here the week of Thanksgiving.  I generally don’t hit the bow hunting much until the bucks start chasing.  I plan on hitting it hard in about a week.

Hopefully with the holidays coming you’ll have a little break and can get out and enjoy the outdoors, maybe even do a little taxidermy. Thanks for what you do as a teacher though – it is a great responsibility.  God Bless!

Gary – I hope you’re able to get out soon and put your tag on a good one!  Please post some pics when you do!

I took a friend out for his first Goose hunt.  There were 3 of us and we limited out.  I’ve been doing very well fishing out there and finally got a chance to hunt waterfowl.  Not a lot of ducks around yet due to the mild weather but there are lots of local geese around.

Everything About my deer season was bad! Except, It was my grandson”s first hunting season. He started it off with a record book turkey. He got his first quail also. He hunted deer like a veteran buck slayer. This was the first time in 38 years that I didn’t get a deer. I can’t do much taxidermy due to aftermath of Lyme disease. So, I am having a blast with my 2 year old great grand daughter and getting ready to be a care giver to my wife when she has her knee surgery next week. Also plan on doing some fall turkey hunting and a day or two of elk hunting. It’s a strange feeling to not have a ton of taxidermy to do. I kinda like it.
