Well, I must say, Kenjie and I had another Great weekend!! This was a funfilled, educational time. I got to see some friends I haven’t seen in close to 25 years, and it was just like we had talked last week. I met and talked to some that were just starting out, and it brought back my own,”starting out” memories. Lord, those were some trying times, but boy, they sure bring a smile to your face as you think back on them.
As I look back on all the conventions I have been to, I must agree with a statement that was made in one of the seminars. A question was asked why people come to the state shows. First replies were, “for ribbons”!! Thats a good reason, as is education, but the comraderie of your fellow taxidermist is what you will look back on in years to come. If you listen close to all the instructors this past weekend, you would have heard that message, because it was there. I thank them for touching on that, because that is what is very important.
There is a lot of decisions, time, money, and planning that goes into making a show happen.A lot of personal time from people, that make this event not just happen, but make it a really good time!! The NC show, this past weekend, and the WV show are the last 2 events I had attended. They both made everybody feel welcome, because , you were! It felt good to be in a room with so much God Given talent, it was a priveledge to be there, as I see it. A lot of people were from out of state,(me and Kenjie included) and they support this organization as if it were there own, but in a way, isn’t it??Bottom line, you guys and gals have it goin on up there, and all I can say, is keep focused on good things to come from your organization (with your support and effort), and it will come. I can’t say enough about what a good time we had, and look forward to next year!!
Thanks to all who made this a good time, and this weekend will go in our file of “Good Memories” that will be looked upon in that way, for years to come.
Thanks, Tommy and Kenjie
