Ill be attaching a few pictures of a coon i just did for my tattooist. just wanna see what you guys think, or what i could do differently. I’ve done deer, birds, coons, possums, and a few dead dogs heads ive found rotting on the side of the road lol! just about anything i can fit in a pot. I’ve been working with this stuff since i was 12 years old. and just was glued to skull cleaning, i boil my heads submerged in water, dawn dish soap, and borax after i flesh the bone. and then go back over it very nicely. I’m also starting on tanning hides, which i am new to the face tanning, rather than pelt tanning (loads easier in my opinion, not as small, and no obstacles lol) What my dream would be someday would be to accomplish a full body European mount!! i plan to stay away from birds tho, PAIN IN THE ASSES!!! only issue ive had lately is the nasal cavity, all of those thin sheers of bone want to slush horribly, i think i just put too much borax in the pot idk. i DO however give the skull a good plain water boil for about a half hour to 45 minutes. and THEN give it a 15 minute chemicle boil.

I would consider moving away from boiling. maceration preserves the bone and also starts the degreasing process. you can not achieve the best results possible with boiling.
