Just curious on how you guys remove the brain, Ive tried powerwasher, spoon, borax, hanger…and all seem to be counterproductive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you are talking about a W/T, I have a butter knife I heated with a torch and rolled the end into about a 1 inch hook. I can get a brain out in about 2 minutes.

I have taking a Flat headed screw driver and stick it in and just go to scrambling them up,then take a water hose a blow it out. Then let the Beatles take care of what might be left.

I boil my skulls with soda ash… not too hot though. every 10 minutes I take em out and spray em with a high pressure nozzle straight to a garden hose…. but the “scrambling” technique always helps

I simmer in soda ash and HQ 5000 for 3 to 4 hours. I shake and they fall out ,

I’ve always used an 8ga wire with a small bend at the end, but the butter knife sounds like it might work better. I may have to make me one.

brain blaster here, you can make one out of an air nozzle hooked up to a garden hose, keep your mouth shut when in use

I made a brain tool , might be like the brain blaster (don’ know what the brain blaster is) I used a 1/8 in copper tubbing about 2 ft long reduced down from 3/4 garden hose with a valve on it. Insert the copper tube in the brain hole and turn on water, water will displace the brain pushing it out in about 5 sec in one piece usually . Cats love the brains, make sure you have the shull in a position that will hold it so that it won’t move when water pressure is applied.

the butter knife is just CRACKING ME UP!!! bet it works well though, such hilljackness!! for larger animals, i twist a clothe hanger and start swirling when the brain gets cottage cheese consistency. and just take a water spicket and fill the cavity up with water, SHAKE vigorously, and tap it out, repeat until its gone. for smaller animals i use a crochet needle even tho this mouse skull i plan on doing in a few days ima need lock smith tools for that little heffer….. the brain is my favorite part, although i’m a little sinister with this sh**.

Another thought is a foot long piece of clothes hanger wire with a loop on one end and the other end in a variable speed drill. Scramble the brain and flush with water.

I like the butter knife…I have made myself several of these tools but I have used them in the garden for thinning and removing weeds from around small plants! Now my husband is thinking about making one for brain removal too….

Word of caution with using water or air in removal of brain matter from skulls…. some zoonotic diseases may survive beyond death of the animal and in some cases a fairly lengthy period. (example is rabies and even anthrax in ungulates) It would be wise to always wear eye protection when dealing with all species. Just a thought….
