DC–those are some fine looking birds. Thanks for posting them. I raise turkeys here as well, but never had Royal Palms.

I always have to separate my toms in the spring, I am sure you have to as well. They fight themselves into exhaustion.

We are often asked if we can repair broken or missing feathers. The answers is ” yes ” in most cases. If the bird is really in bad shape, we may have to explore other options. However, most of the time we can fix minor to moderate damage at a reasonable cost.

This particular turkey had quite a bit of damage. It was missing both scapular groups, neck/ pan of feathers behind the head, and hackle feathers.
Here are a few pictures of the bird just after we got it on the form.

After cleaning it up a little, we started to set up some basic alignment of the existing feather groups. It clearly showed just what we needed to replace.

Here is the mounted bird after all the repairs were made.
