OfflineIve done some (but not much) tanning in the past and dont have a tumbler which makes doing dry tans a pain in the wrists. 🙂 Any suggestions on how to get this beaver tail soft and pliable? I just thinned it all down and it’s back in the pickle. After I neutralize it and tan it, I plan on putting tanning oil on it and then working the hide till its soft. But what do I do with the tail? I ended up basically halving the tail with a quarter inch border that I turned ( if that makes any sense..?) the flat way …. so if you were to look at it flat, I took all the bottom flat part off except a quarter inch border.
