Well after pickling a deer cape all summer in citric acid it fleshed real easy 🙂 didn’t plan on doing it that way but it turned out nice . Soaked it down with HQ 5000 . It’ll make a nice replacement cape . No incision .

I had to adjust after couple months and added brown bottle Lysol with phenol . That was about three months ago . Did add more salt , five pounds . This is not the first time I’ve done this . Year before I pickled a cape for one year . I monitored ph . It turned out nice to . Shaved like butter .

But I add a little more acid than suggested so it doesn’t drop on me soon . I like to pickle a week if I can . Might shave after three days but ill pickle it another 3 to four days . It alows me to shave it thin the second time .

As long as you maintain your pH it can stay in there for as long as you need it to. I have two coons I am doing the same thing with. Been in there a few months because I have them on the back burner to mount. Pickle is an amazing thing.
