Do any of you guys ever have a problem with hair curling in spots all over a deer cape once it has been wet tanned???? I have one every now and then that will curl in spots and its a pain to get these ares to lay down. I use formic acid to pickle my hides in

They are actually rotating in the skin at the hair follicles. When the skin dries they tighten up and will not lay flat due to being turned the wrong way.

I see it from time to time. It maybe due to an iffy/borderline cape, I’m really not sure.

Thanks DP. I have a wholesale fleshing and tanning business at the studio and from time to time i get a few like that and just had a customer call with one he was having problems with. In all my years of doing this i still could not explain to him why it happens. I dont see it a lot but when it does its just plain aggravating. I am just about out of liqua tan so i am gonna try some of the products offered by HQ. Thanks again for the response

Turkeythug “D” and Jeremy know more about tanning that probably anybody I know and “D” I appreciate the info on the hair that will not lay down. As for liqua tan vs. HQ 5000 there is no comparison. You will love the HQ 5000 it is the best tanning solution I have used and I have used about all of them!
