Most of you have heard talk of a “kicker”. There are different styles, including just tumbling the skins in a grease drum. This is an old one we rebuilt last summer, it originally ran off a line shaft with an idler pulley for the flat belt. After the line shaft was engaged you would use a set of forks to walk the belt onto the drive pulley.

Oh yes, the “Kicker” the first piece of tannery equipment I learned to run. I was introduced to one of these December 6th, 1986…..Damn, what was I thinking?

After the rebuild this one isn’t really  that loud, of course I’m hard of hearing so maybe that’s why!
