Hey guys and gals,

I took in a buck a couple of weeks ago that a guy shot during the early season SC rifle season. It is a great buck in full velvet! The bad thing is he thought the cape was “splotchy”, so he cut the head off of the buck thinking he would simply buy another cape that looked better! Well the buck had an 18.5 inch neck. I know capes like this are treasured but I am in need of one if you have it! If you have something shorthaired and close to 18-19 inches please let me know.

Thanks,
John Reese

John, most of the time they are still in velvet, they will be “splotchy”. I may have one,I will try to check this weekend and get back to you.

Tommy, I talked to John on the phone, I don’t have anything that big in an early cape so I told him to come here.

His customer cut it off because he didn’t like the summer hair look. In other words he didn’t have clue what he had. He wanted John to put it on a longer haired deer so it would look “Better”. Now that John has educated the hunter he needs a new cape like the one he ruined.

If I don’t have the story straight John, please correct me. Just trying to clear up exactly what you are looking for.

Absolutely right D. I tried to explain to him that it would all but be a sin for me to mount these velvet horns on a longhair cape. I fully understand that most all summer capes are “splotchy”. Any help finding a replacement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
